Wine Country Big Q

1 pm to 5 pm
Join us at the third annual Wine Country Big Q Kansas City Barbecue Society (KCBS) nationally sanctioned competition at Sonoma Academy in Santa Rosa, California. Everyone loves barbecue and some of the best Pit Masters will be here to serve you up a slice. Sample great “authentic” barbecued meats, world class wines, award-winning brews while enjoying great country and blues music. Bring all of your senses to life as you wander amongst the teams see, smell and taste mouthwatering barbecue.
We have added our own Wine Country twist to the KCBS competition – the “Winery Big Beef Challenge”. See who is King of the Grill as winery and vineyard chefs go fork to fork competing for the coveted People’s Choice award for the best tri tip and the wines that best complement.
And the final throw down of the Big Q is the “Bold Bean Challenge”. Teams light their fires and show off their skills on the grill preparing the perfect side dish to accompany great barbecue.
Wine Country Big Q is sure to satisfy anyone’s appetite for great barbecue, world class wine and beer, live entertainment with some fired up friendly competition.

The Children’s Museum of Sonoma County is a beneficiary of this year’s Wine Country Big Q. The mission of the Children’s Museum of Sonoma County is to inspire children’s creativity and stimulate their curiosity to discover the world through playful exploration of the arts and sciences. Please help us to support the Children’s Museum – their new permanent home is expected to open in October 2013.

Come out Friday, July 12th for Parks & Pasta before the Big Q. Support our Regional Parks, including the new Taylor Mountain Regional Park and Open Preserve at a fun-filled picnic and celebration.
